i remember when the bus drivers union went on strike because of the labor disputes over workman compensation and annual salaries. i was an avid bus rider at the time and i can remember talking to several bus drivers about the pay and benefits they receive. i began to realize that the job does not pay them well and its probably because there is no incentive for more people to use the transit system so you have the majority of passengers who ride because they live in poverty and cant afford a car. giving tax breaks to people who use the valley metro transit system could help reduce our carbon footprint, promote cultural awareness and diversity, help the average Phoenician save money yearly by providing a tax break and also help those bus drivers get better pay and compensation.
