Looking at downtown from a macro level, it is shocking how much land has been gobbled up, or will be, by ASU & Bio Campus. ASU's pledge was to integrate seamlessly into the urban fabric by renovating historic structures, and developing ;arge use projects that mixed EDU uses with private use. It also had numerous PPTs about activated ground levels, urban plazas, & complete streets. As the Law School arrives, it has failed on all fronts. Buildings are 1-use and clustered together, and its site plan has lacked height, density & shade. While we are left with the Law Fortress, it would be worthwhile to host a series of Consortiums where ASU, Biol Campus, & Phoenix bring a group of invested stakeholders to discuss past issues, present project checkpoints, and hold working sessions to ensure future projects connect all 3 and hold each accountable for successful integration. Those chosen will be held accountable by us, the citizens, & we can make changes in smaller working sessions. |
