Many of the sidewalks in Phoenix along the arterial roads are very narrow and are located right next to heavy, speeding traffic. Let's make sidewalks wider and create buffers from the traffic using protected bike lanes, landscaping and parallel parking. And then we need to add an abundance of shade so that people will be protected from the Arizona sun.
