This may not have much to do with the districts surrounding the Light Rail, however I find that it is important due to the current limited range of the Light Rail line. It is really difficult to use the light rail with a bike. The place to hang one's bike is in the narrowest part of the train, and requires the user to lift the bike above their head to hang it, often right next to sitting passengers, and often while the train is beginning to move. I am an average sized person who is physically fit, and I dread taking my bike on the rail, and I know others who avoid it because of the difficulty. Many times I ride as a non-cyclist rider and see cyclists just give up altogether on hanging their bikes and block the aisles standing next to them Can we lobby Metro to re-design the trains to be more bike friendly? Put the bike hangers closer to the door and lower, with a barrier between bikes and seated passengers. We can swap out the newly designed trains as we replace the original trains to save valuable Valley Metro funds. I would suggest our current Metro leader (who came from Portland's Tri-Met) look to his former home for car designs which are easy for cyclists to use.
