Many people are cutting across traffic and the rails to get to stations. My roommate even saw someone cutting across Camelback at the Melrose station, and pushing a baby stroller across the tracks. It is only a matter of time before one of these crossings causes a fatality (if it has not already happened). Railings would encourage them to go to the crosswalk.
