Many think that the airport stands in the way of density near 16th/Washington and southward from there. However, there is plenty of available building area and a hugely missed opportunity to utilize the proximity to the airport, downtown, and other area businesses.
Senior housing is planned at the 16th Street and Jefferson/Washington Streets intersection. Ground should be broken soon. At this time high rise developments are not planned in the Eastlake area. A property owner recently replaced a mid-rise proposal with one of a much lower profile, more in keeping with what the market can support.
