The Phoenix FC are currently partnering with ASU to build a 5,000 seat stadium in Tempe. If successful as a venture, the city of Phoenix needs to seize the opportunity to be a home for the team. We should build a 15-20,000 seat stadium partially subgrade and partially shaded (by solar panels) along the light rail line -- particularly in a location that lends itself to redevelopment. 32nd Street and Van Buren would work ideally in this regard, especially given the proximity to an existing event space (Celebrity Theater) and other cultural attractions nearby.
