Install pedestrian walkway across or over Camelback Road at the Light Rail Stop. That intersection is scary for pedestrians

by David B45 If you mean Central & Camelback, I like no right-on-red and/or a scramble intersection:

by Bob D3 My sense is that all the Camelback stops could use this. Overhead might be a tad expensive for now though ...

by Will Novak which intersection are you talking about? The Light Rail is on Camelback at a bunch of different intersections.

Generally I'm against Pedestrian bridges, with the exception of when they cross freeways and connect neighborhoods (especially neighborhoods that were once whole and the freeway tore them apart). Pedestrian bridges over surface streets are inconvenient and send the wrong message, especially in Central PHX. A pedestrian bridge says "Pedestrian, you're not important, we must keep this auto traffic flowing at 50MPH+ at all times! Sorry but you're going to be inconvenienced and have to walk up this big ramp"

HAWK signals are cheaper than bridges and better for pedestrians and cyclists too! Info on HAWK signals if you're not familiar:

by Derek H1 Will, David mentioned underpasses. And I agree with you that HAWK signals are a good idea.

by Will Novak VVV Derek, who's talking about underpasses? I'm talking about just crossing on street level. I don't want pedestrians to have to go up in the air (bridges) or down under the ground (underpasses). HAWKS are what I want :)

by Derek H1 The problem with underpasses is they attract crime.

by David B45 What do you think of the pedestrian underpass under Camelback -- the one that connects Biltmore Fashion Park and the Esplanade? It was built after several pedestrian deaths, all of them involving mid-block jaywalking, but it's not heavly used.

by Derek H1 How about "no right on red" at this intersection?
