Phoenix Lives Up to Its Name

Phoenix was reborn from the ashes of the Hohokam people. I love the fact that Phoenix continues to be reborn as it searches for its identity from generation to generation. We are not a people stuck in the past, rather we are creating a history for the future! This "renewal" makes for an inclusive spirit that embraces people from all over the country and all over the world. As resilient inhabitants, we are reborn through the transitions of seasons. In the heat of summer, we change our rhythm of life and adapt our habits to the extremes. In the fall, we are reborn as we begin to venture outside and enjoy almost perfect weather during numerous activities and festivals. As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, we are continually renewed with fresh ideas, expanding dreams and hopes realized. Now, we are on the brink of being reborn once again as we look back to the center of our city and reinvent ourselves once again. We are like the mythical bird, who rises to the challenges of tomorrow knowing that we will not be what we were yesterday.
