We need to compete against other big cities. Right now public transit is not attractive for the normal person. The connections for buses are terrible and the light rail isn't in enough neighborhoods. I believe we need to expand light rail from east mesa on Baseline through at least 35th Avenue and then from Baseline on Central and Priest all the way to North Scottsdale. The sooner we get a better chance of getting people off the road.

by stephanie P6 I will like to see public tansit improve. Becuase alot of people use it and it is almost the only way that people get around.

by Patrick B4 Aside from the Scottsdale component, I tend to agree -- Scottsdale has vigorously opted out of light rail connectivity. How about first instituting the South Central leg of the light rail that was previously planned by the city and has since been put on the back burner? This would provide an excellent opportunity to then introduce a Baseline segment that could eventually tie into several connecting bus lines at AZ Mills Mall and perhaps even the Tempe Street Car, which at one time was discussed as possibly going all the way to Rural and Baseline.

by Patrick B4 And to be clear, I primarily focus on the southeastern leg of the light rail because it looks like we're making clear progress toward building the western extension -- perhaps not on an entirely optimal route, but it's progress nonetheless. I could see Glendale jumping onboard to expand rail just as Tempe, Mesa, and Phoenix have done already.
