Focus on food deserts and hunger

So many people, especially in South Phoenix and Central Phoenix live in food deserts. This means they lack access to grocery stores and healthy, affordable food options. Some neighborhoods are only within the vicinity of fast-food joints and Circle K's. Oftentimes, it is low-income neighborhoods that fall into this category. Many people in these neighborhoods do not own vehicles or cannot drive to a grocery store..... getting to one on the bus can take over an hour.

We need to focus on food deserts for the health of all of our citizens. Did you know that 1 in 4 Arizona children is at-risk for hunger? And low-income residents are less-likely to eat healthfully and more-likely to become overweight or obese. Arizona can fight the problem of malnourishment and the problem of hunger by focusing development to get rid of these food deserts.
