Most Phoenix parks use a summer variety grass thats lush and green all summer long, when temperatures cool, its dead, yellow and rough. While this makes sense in a place like Boston, it makes no sense in Phoenix. We have 8 months of beautiful, cool, outdoor weather. Lets use grass types (i.e. rye) that are green in the winter when we want to be outside, playing in parks. In key parks that are in dense areas and expect a lot of use, the Parks department should over seed and try to keep the lawns looking green all the year round. A little step like this will go a long way in encouraging people to use our parks, and strengthening the sense of neighborhood and community.
