39th Avenue is a nice street to ride bikes down. However, where it meets the canal between Dunlap and Peoria there is an impasse and you must go down to either of the major streets. Crossing the canal on the sidewalks next to either 43rd or 35th Avenue can be dangerous, not to mention it takes you on a journey of over a mile, out of the way. I think this has not been done yet because houses line the canal on its South side. There is a solution though. There is a vacant lot between 4056 and 4046 W. Camino Acequia. This lot could become a small park (which this neighborhood lacks) and an access to the canal. A bridge would would also connect these two communities, allowing children to walk or bike between them.
