Imagine being able to access the internet in public spaces throughout the city. Municipal wifi networks already exist in many major cities throughout the world (including parts of Tempe). The ease and efficiency of such a network increases productivity within a city because access can be gained immediately on the street without the need for celular data service. Moreover, everyone benefits from a municipal wifi network. Even the poorest among us would have immediate internet access without having to wait in long lines at city libraries.

The network could begin with a few major wireless access zones and expand over time.
