Reviewed Ideas
Well the title of this idea may leave you confused, but check out this short article on an awesome new piece of public art in Santiago: http://www.theatlant Phoenix is the hottest major City in America and its obvious to everyone we're not doing enough to keep pedestrians cool in the summer. The City ought to use Public Art funds, along with private/corporate donations, to sponsor the construction of multiple, unique, cutting edge cooling art installations like Santiago's Water Cathedral. Imagine if we had 10 such locations spread out across downtown. Little cooling oases on a hot summer day. Something like the Water Cathedral design would work great a mid block crossing, say the pedestrian passthrough over at the Wells Fargo building. There are a lot of talented, young architects, artists and designers in this City. Giving them a platform, like building cooling sculptures throughout downtown, would be a great boost to not only their careers but to the image of PHX as a place for cutting edge design.
