Forcing new tickets every week or month produces a lot of waste for our city AND the transit services. Cities like Chicago and San Francisco have personal accounts for freeway and transit services. Yet Phoenix persists in having travelers purchase new passes within days or weeks of each other, unless their company provides the option of a reloadable card. Opening the system to personal management of ride funds allows individuals to reap the rewards--and parents to teach the value--of money management skills.
