In future decades, Phoenix will almost certainly face additional pressures with respect to population growth, climate change, demands for energy, and limits on governmental resources. It is crucial for Phoenix to aquire land for preservation/open spaces- while it is still available and affordable. Phoenix voters have overwhelmingly supported dedicating a small percentage of existing city tax revenues to these efforts (83% of Phoenix voters supported this approach as recently as 2008). Voters should be presented with the option to increase this percentage moving forward.
