Implement the Tree & Shade Master Plan- NOW!
This shady bosque in Downtown should be the rule, not the exception

In January of 2010 the City officially adopted the "Tree & Shade Master Plan," an excellent plan to increase Phoenix's tree/shade canopy to 25% by 2030. But have you noticed a dramatic increase in the planting of trees since 2010? I sure haven't.

Phoenix needs to aggressively implement the Tree & Shade master plan, and start on it now. Night time temperatures in recent years have increased again and again due to the Urban Heat Island, and adding more trees is the easiest way to combat that.

How about working with groups like the Suns & the D'backs to help plant trees? How about working on a deal where the Suns plant X number of tree's every time they hit a 3? Call it "Treys for Trees". Or X number of trees planted by the D'backs every time they hit a home run (don't have a snappy name for this one).

Great idea Will. We are very proud of the work our Parks and Recreation Department put into this document.
