but see the opportunity to use them as connectors between the Valley cities. The canal system is the unique feature to Phoenix. There are wonderful sections of the canal which are well maintained, well used by residents and even have parks adjacent to them. There are other sections that are the opposite. Please enlighten me, but why don't we have a Phoenix Marathon or a Tour de Phoenix using the Grand and Arizona Canal System which connects the west valley to the east valley? Why can't the canal system be a feature people who visit Phoenix want to visit because it is one of a kind? What can the canal be other than a dirty back alley for to much of the COP?
