While it's fantastic that people in communities outside central Phoenix are able to commute via light rail, we also need to focus on the core and create a solid internal transit system within the central corridor. The bike share program will certainly help with getting people to and from the light rail, but we also need to increase light rail routes besides Central Avenue within Midtown. While future plans, such as the Northeast extension will be a good thing, perhaps these extensions can be incorporated with new downtown and Midtown routes. Instead of only focusing on getting people in and out of Phoenix, let's also create a transit plan for getting people to live, explore, shop and stay in downtown and the central corridor, which is the heart of Phoenix. Creating a good internal transit system along with bicycle infrastructure, bike sharing and pedestrian friendly walkways will help us to catch up to the other great US cities.
