I'd like to see Steele Indian School Park become the Central Park of PX. It has so much to offer already, it would be wonderful to enhance it. If anyone has visited Milwaukee's Summerfest, you know that the city has ethnic and music festivals from May-Oct. They are a huge tourist draw. I would like to see the city purchase some of the vacant land around the park, build a parking facility, outdoor ampitheater(s), and
transform the historic buildings into restaurants, shops, and points of interest. Music festivals throughout high season would add to the city revenues and add to the tourism draw. Milwaukee has been working on the Summerfest grounds for years, adding venues and permanent structures to create a world class facility. With a little imagination, Steele Park could become a jewel, showcasing Indian history, culture and music. After all the monies have been spent restoring the buildings, wouldn't it be grand to use them?
