Phoenix Children's Hospital is in growth mode. It has the power to become a great economic engine for the neighborhood. However, instead of improving, and instead of new vibrant businesses coming in, the commercial district is eroding. Parts along E Thomas Rd are looking more and more downscale than ever. A commercial revitalization area to bring area property owners, commercial tenants, neighborhood residents, and city economic development representatives to plan such initiatives as improving building facades and recruiting businesses geared to a walkable neighborhood would be a good start. Public-private initiatives is "where it is at" these days!
