Allow/encourage curb cuts to be made in neighborhoods, rather than street surface rain to be runoff to sewers, the water can be captured in the right of ways where low water use native plants could be planted. Many benefits can come of this action, first right of ways can be made into great walkways and common areas bringing neighbors out to their front yards and talking to each other developing community. neighborhood streets could be made narrower slowing traffic. Trees can provide shade, cool, air filtering of particles and oxygen, also habitats for birds and other animals are created in the process. Plants like mesquite could provide much needed food at little cost. This has been done quite successfully in parts of Tucson. |
