It's difficult and dangerous to cross large multi-lane roads as a pedestrian. Because there are currently few places to safely cross, you often have to either 1) risk your life by standing in an active turn lane while you wait for traffic or 2) walk down to the nearest crosswalk at a major intersection. This can mean walking half a mile to the crosswalk, crossing the street, then walking a half mile back to get someplace just across the street. There are restaurants and shops across the street from my house, but I've never walked there because there are no crosswalks, and it's not safe. We need to add several pedestrian-activated crosswalks with lights (and medians) between each major intersection to make it simpler and easier for pedestrians to get around.
