Our city needs to adopt a greater emphasis on growing and nurturing small businesses and ambitious startups. One way of doing this is to create and/or directly support business incubators wherever they offer a strategic value to the city's economic development goals. While our downtown, light rail corridor, and major office markets (like the Biltmore, midtown, et al) certainly come to mind as obvious locations, we should ensure that every village or council district is provided with resources to create its own incubator(s) -- either alone or in partnership with outside entities like community colleges, universities, CEDCs, and state/federal offices.
