Reviewed Ideas
To prepare for a meeting this week, I was reading some background material. I came across the Phoenix Revitalization Corporation's Quality of Life Plan for a specific area of town: Central City South. Not an Urban Plan or a Transportation Plan or a Streetscape Plan, but a Quality of Life Plan. Maybe that idea can be considered and implemented in other areas of our city? By neighborhood, by Village Planning Committee, by Council District? Here's the Vision Statement of the residents, businesses, and civic and cultural institutions of Central City South, Phoenix, Arizona: “It is our vision that Central City South is a desirable place to live in by current and future residents of all income levels and embraces diversity within all ages and ethnic backgrounds. We envision a community that is healthier than it’s ever been. For this community, healthier means less crime, and blight, more amenities that meet the needs of all who live in it, safe affordable mixed income housing, a healthier environment, and a recognition and celebration of its rich cultural history.”
