Alleys are key to urban environments because they allow functions like loading docks, parking access, and trash pickup to not happen in the pedestrian right-of-way. When utilized correctly they make constant driveways, which are a danger to cyclists and pedestrians b/c they increase "conflict points", unnecessary.

So preserve the alleyways that we have, and regain the ones that we have foolishly abandoned to owners of adjacent parcels.
