As we are moving to create a more walkable, bike-able, sustainable city, we must also insist on creating universal access in our design and planning process. A more bike friendly-pedestrian city will also include strollers, roller blades, skateboards as modes of transportation as well as wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc.

Everything from lighting, ground surfaces and the heights of the plants can either enhance or detract from Universal Access.
