I envision Downtown Phoenix to be a urban oasis complete with Fabric shade structures over most sidewalks and open air areas encouraging more visitors to walk, bike, etc... We have lost out to Cities like Las Vegas and their open air areas that host thousands of people every day. Freemont street is an example of what we should be encouraging as we work with our most important feature- the sun. It would be great to see the old train station converted to a Pike's Place market as in Seattle... These cities have been very successful with these facilities- why not create them here? We need to offer a variety of activities to encourage people to play.
