Sky Harbor Airport. A few wish list items here. If/when the AA/US merger goes through, push for all Japan/Asia/Pacific/Indian flights to go through Phoenix rather than Chicago or Dallas. PHX should be the next ATL, and could be in a very short time. There's no reason for people in the Western United States to fly *east* to Chicago or Dallas to then fly back *west* to get to these destinations - not only does it add at least 6 hours to a flight from SFO/LAX/SEA/PHX to, say, Tokyo, but it also adds immense costs to the airline, which makes their ticket prices prohibitively expensive. Why PHX over LAX/SFO? No weather delays, no earthquake risk, no tsunami risk, less gate/runway congestion, lower gate fees, lower fuel costs, lower labor costs, lower insurance costs, lower taxes. I'm guessing that a major airline could be swayed to PHX by being able to fly passengers to foreign destinations for 20-40% less than flying out of LAX/SFO.

by David B45 Trans-Pacific flights would be a nice offset if we lose the headquarters to Texas.

by Ben B9 I agree for sure - the trans-pacific flights would probably have a more positive gain over losing 3500 employees... get just that many people to visit phoenix per day and you'd have a lot of extra hotel nights, rental cars, restaurant/bar revenue, tours, etc., etc., etc.
