I'm always surprised to find out how many people have never ridden the light rail. There should be periodic "ride for free" days (maybe once or twice a year) to promote ridership and to celebrate this mode of transportation. There could be events along the way to encourage riders to get on and off at different stops and discounts offered by local businesses. Volunteers could be at each station to teach people how to purchase tickets and to answer questions.
