Currently these are seven-lane highways.

Instead they should be 4 auto lanes, 2 parallel parking lanes, and 2 bike lanes.

"But where do the other 3 lanes of auto traffic go?!" asks the City of Phoenix traffic engineer.

Answer: On other streets that are currently underutilized, such as 6th St, 5th St, 3rd St, etc.

by Derek H1 Instead of 2 parallel parking lanes, how about "head out" angle parking on alternating sides? It's easier and quicker to angle park than to parallel park. Putting it on alternating sides of the street saves road space over putting it on both sides of the same stretch of street, and the parking chicanes create a traffic calming effect, enhancing safety.
