It's time for Phoenix to step up its game and get serious about bicycle infrastructure like every other major North American city has been doing for many years now: Protected Bike Lanes.

Not "buffered-by-painted-hash-marks" stuff, but real, quality street designs that come from transportation planners (and not just auto-traffic engineers).

It works like this: The bike lane goes on the OUTSIDE of the parallel parking, by the sidewalk instead of the traffic. [see image]
