Phoenix has a whole lot of streets and sunshine, which over the years, has contributed to a strong skateboarding culture here. Since no one else has a major claim to memorializing skateboarding, why not jump on the opportunity? Better yet, our anti-California contingent will love the idea of nabbing this from them (although fair warning: there is one small skateboarding museum already in Simi Valley). And let's not overthink this idea, but embracing what has previously been a wonderfully inventive counterculture would mean a lot to young families -- a major demographic we want to attract to our city's core.
