We need to start controlling 'entitlement' expenditures such as passing along the cost of public transportation, including Dial A Ride, to those that use this service. We need to scale back unused or unprofitable bus routes and run bus service in the peak use hours and then have only a skeleton fleet running in non peak hours. Currently we subsidize public transportation by seventy eight cents out of every dollar spent and most who ride the lite rail do not pay at all. If you ride, you need to pay for your ride and the city needs to install meters to insure this and fine those who do not pay. After all, that is theft, pure and simple. And city employees should no longer ride free.
