Since the '40s auto racing has been a part of the Phoenix landscape. The City is steep in history of storied and famous race drivers, several participating and some winning the biggest race of them all, The Indy 500. Our weather allows for the longest running season for grassroots racing and we have the ability to captialize on it and draw thousands of racers and their fans to the city in regional and national events. Our hospitality business owners would certainly benefit from thousands of out-of-towners staying at hotels and enjoying the restaurants, not to mention the jobs and tax revenue. We need things that don't only cost, but generate revenue and this would certainly do that.
