We need to create increased densities and flexible zoning around our college campuses. Efforts to incorporate research and development space, business incubators, and dispersed commercial/mixed-use development should be made within a 1-mile perimeter of any college campus in Phoenix. Residential should be dispersed throughout and streets should be friendlier to pedestrians and bikes. Aside from the downtown core, we need such zones around ASU West and our private universities like University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University.
