This is one for my citizen colleagues - how do we feel about helping to pay to make Phoenix a great city? Not so great as, say, Philadelphia, over 3 1/2 times ours, or even Albuquerque, which is 2 1/2 times ours, but a mere 15% or 49% tax hike to put us in line with Tucson or Tempe, respectively. I'm talking about per capita municipal expenditures - we rank really low at $715 per capita, while Tucson is $817, Tempe $1,062, Alburquerque $1,756 and Philadelphia $2,540. Our City government has learned to whip miracles out of pennies, relatively speaking - what could they do with another $160-540 Million every year? THAT would be truly excellent bang for the buck!
