We have all seen the revitalization of downtown Phoenix and at the same time we have also seen numerous historic buildings be destroyed. Most recently the St. James and Madison hotels next to the suns arena were leveled. Those buildings were almost 100 year old.

The good news is Phoenix has over 250,000 square feet of warehouse buildings that could be transitioned into retail space very easily. Look no further than a warehouse transition and popular phoenix hang out "The Duce". In Los Angeles they have a world renowned fashion district downtown. If the city could encourage and incentivise young entrepreneurs, designers, artist, and restauranteurs to lease space, this could bring more traffic to downtown Phoenix and give the city more character like other larger competing cities.

This is something that can be done very easily. The cost to transition the space is very affordable. Even if the city helped building owners finance some of the projects it can be done and it will attract business. The sections of downtown Phoenix south of the stadiums need some investment help to make it more attractive for customers and business owners, but it can help Phoenix be a great downtown city.
