Create a Hispanic cultural center that is a point of civic pride, an educational and entertainment center, and a magnet for economic development. The heritage of many of our residents is something that is authentic and should be celebrated. A unique and vibrant cultural center could become a destination for Phoenix residents as well as for visitors from around the world. It could help revitalize the surrounding area in one of our Hispanic communities, the Maryvale core or somewhere near Downtown by creating a market for new and existing restaurants and related retail. It might be largely (or completely) funded by grants and private fundraising. Creating a vibrant Hispanic cultural center would require a big effort but could result in many benefits that would enrich the entire community.
