I can't tell you how many times I've been walking around downtown Phoenix just to stumble into people asking where to grab a good bite to eat, what historic places to visit or where the shopping is. Let's face it, Phoenix is a word-of-mouth city. Some of the best places to eat downtown, for example, (Carly's, Cibo, Main Ingredient, etc.) are off the beaten path. We need a visitor's center for people new to the city or who are visiting us for a short period of time. There, they could find out information about not only the cool businesses we have around town, but also about some of Phoenix's history as well. I believe a visitor's center would attract more people to downtown Phoenix. Even people who live in Valley suburbs like Scottsdale and Chandler could use it for a day trip downtown. A website is a good first start, but a central meeting hub that offered ticket sales, postcards and just good in-person information would be desirable.
