I take the Light Rail each morning, and I can't help but notice that Ballet Arizona is located well outside of the downtown core. Why is this? I keep hearing that PHX wants to build a cultural core in the heart of downtown PHX, but this cultural attraction, like the MIM, lies on the outskirts of the city core. It does not make sense to me that the city wouldn't try to provide incentives for Ballet Arizona to locate itself in downtown PHX, and I see no reason why it wouldn't want to be within proximity to the two art museums and the other cultural attractions. Sometimes I feel there is a disconnect between the stated goals for development in downtown PHX and what actually occurs. Why is this? Is there any committee that proactively looks into these matters?
