There are some great local, independent restaurants in PHX. Pizzeria Bianco has received national recognition for its pizza, and Pita Jungle, while expanding beyond Arizona, originated right here. There are many others, like Fez, etc. Chicago has its Taste of Chicago, so why not hold an annual Taste of PHX that would feature local restaurants and other culinary talent (coffeehouses and cafes with their own signature dishes or drinks, etc.)? There was one thread on here that talked about identifying a signature local PHX dish to help foster urban identity. You could hold a contest for most the original culinary creation. You could even draw inspiration from Milwaukee's SummerFest and bring in live musical entertainment.
