I have traveled to many cities on "bike trips" through companies such as VBT and Sojourn. Trips last 5 to 7 days and each trip usually has 15-20 cyclists. Phoenix would be an ideal city for these trips due to our perfect weather (not including the summers). There are several companies leading these trips in Tucson and the surrounding areas in Southern AZ.
Phoenix needs to extend the bike paths on the canal, along the Salt River bed, Scottsdale or out to the White Tanks or Litchfield Park. These paths need to be dedicated bike or pedestrian paths. If they could somehow circle the city that would be even better. This would bring a lot of tourism into our city. These companies tend to follow each other and once one starts trips in an area, several more come in to compete. They usually try to stay in small boutique hotels where they have breakfast and dinners. Usually two nights are dinner out at the restaurant of your choice.
