For new apartments/condos/homes and for sale in existing hardware stores require/mandate:

* all current faucets sold should have 0.5 gpm faucet aerators
* only motion sensing faucets can be sold by 2015 - they're as low as $30 these days. make sure that they use the flow of water to power the sensor instead of replacing batteries
* only 1.75 gpm shower heads can be sold
* no new construction with chillers/cooling towers - a typical large retail store can use over 1.2 million gallons of water just for cooling towers - every month!
